A Suitably Cliche First Edition
By Emil Eddy • Issue #1 • View online
Hey y'all,
It’s happening, I suppose.
When I started my YouTube channel, I never thought that I’d be making a newsletter too, but now that I’ve heard so many people talk about how newsletters are soo good and the best way to connect with your audience - here I am.
As with starting anything, I’ve had the tendency to err towards perfectionism.
I want to wait until my website is perfect - I want to make my first edition interesting - I want to plan a few editions before I post my first one.
And to a certain extent, these feelings are completely natural, I mean…
Who would want to publish a bad newsletter?
Who would want to start a newsletter with nothing to talk about?
These thoughts, of course, have been running through my mind these days, and I’ve tried to push them far away, and it seems that I’ve succeeded so far. I’ve managed to get my newsletter and website up in about the timeframe of a week, and they have been functioning as intended!
I suppose what I’m trying to say is that I’m very glad that I’ve been able to overcome my perfectionist tendencies, and that it’s let me do a lot of things that I otherwise would’ve been far too scared to do.
Something I’ve especially learned these past 5 months since starting my YouTube channel is that starting really is the hardest part. If you too have these tendencies, what has it stopped you from possibly achieving?
What might you be missing out on?
A suitably cliche lesson for my first newsletter, but I shouldn’t chase perfectionism… right?
Thank you all so much for joining me on my journey, and I hope you can get some enjoyment from these reads :)
-Emil
